Slovenian Wine Festival 2014

So, let’s try to give some essential news concerning the Slovenian Wine Festival…

 

Slovenian-wine-festival-Ljubljiana

 

This wine festival has been taking place in the capital town of Slovenia, Ljubljiana, every year since 1998.

2014 edition will be held at the Grand Hotel Union – a beautiful, historical building located in the old town centre – on November the 20th and the 21st, from 3 to 9 PM.

Visitors will be able to taste products of the best Slovene cellars as well as wines from selected foreign cellars.

This event is also very popular thanks to the cultural opportunities it offers.
Not only guided tasting sessions and “educational” speeches on wine, but also music, lectures and workshops will be held during these two days of celebration of wines.

Who

Some of the best Slovene winegrower are taking part to the Festival to display their wines and let visitors taste them.
Among them cellars like Bovin winery, Chateu Kamnik, Čok, Ekološko vinogradništvo Rodica Truške, Kmetijska zadruga Metlika, Simcic, Sutor and Popov Winery from the Republic of Macedonia… and many others.

 

How to get there

By car

From Italy, on E70
Getting into Ljubljiana from west, in Tržaška cesta, driving to the town centre through Aškerčeva cesta, turning left into Slovenska cesta and finally right into Dalmatinova ulica and – right again – Miklošičeva cesta.

 

From Austria and Croatia, on A1
Getting into Ljubljiana from east in Žaloska cesta, Trubarjeva cesta, then turning right (to Rozmanova ulica) and later left into Ilirska ulica; then straight on on Komenskega uliva, and finally turning left in Miklošičeva cesta.

 

From Ljubljiana airport, on A2/E61
Getting into town from north in Celovška cesta, then driving on Gosposvetska cesta, crossing Slovenska cesta to Dalmatinova uliva and finally turning right n Miklošičeva cesta.

Not alla vehicles are allowed in the city centre, so it is better to park in Slovenska cesta or in Kongresni trg.

 

By train

Stepping off in Ljubljiana and then walking down Miklošičeva cesta to the hotel

How much it costs

30 euro per day, 50 euro for both.
Tickets are available directly at the Festival or online at eventim.si (but will be delivered by courier)
